Atlantis Soars One Last Time

NASA did it again - STS-132 Atlantis lifted off at 2:20 this afternoon on its final scheduled mission, carrying six astronauts and headed for the International Space Station. (NASA Photo)

It was a beautiful day for a launch, as you can see in these photos that friend Wayne snapped from Satellite Beach. (Photos by Wayne Matchett - click to enlarge)

Gone with the wind ...

Atlantis has been in service for nearly 25 years and has flown 115 million miles. The mission patch says it all - a shuttle headed into the sunset.

I was heading just south of there today to Satellite Beach, but I saw it going up on while driving on the 528.
